The catch is, that only every other soldier is getting a rifle. The Commissars are usually saying something like “One man gets the rifle, the next man gets some bullets. The second man follows the man with the rifle, and when he is shot, picks up the rifle and carries on fighting!”

That’s exactly how I feel at work right now.

Hopefully I won’t get shot. But if I am, I hope someone will carry on fighting.

• Draw. I’ve been thinking about trying to get back into drawing again. Heck, when I was a kid I used to draw all the time, and I have stopped doing it for many years at this point. I thought I was going to get back into it a few years ago when I got a tablet and stylus for my birthday, but it took me months to get the thing out of the box, and I haven’t touched it since. Turns out drawing on the computer is much harder than on a piece of paper. Maybe I should start slow and rekindle my love of doodling while talking on the phone. Who wants to call me to kick start me on this journey back to drawing?

Of course, I could always find some helpful tutorials online.

• Aim. My dad recently gave me his compound bow. It’s in pretty rough shape, but I think I’ll get it fixed and start shooting again. I used to be really good at this, way back when. I wonder if I can get back into it… All I need are some apples and my son, right? Nothing like proper motivation to get the job done.
• Fire. Speaking of things that you shoot, I recently completed firearm training. Now I just need to find a few people willing to say that I’m sane enough to have some firearms in my house. It may be years before that happens, so no worries. On a more serious note, I did this because my FFIL (Favorite Father-In-Law) asked me to do it. I need to have the proper permits to be allowed to get his firearms collection when he dies. Yes, talking about death weirds me out.
• Pause. I haven’t played any sport moved since the early 2011. I think the pause has been long enough as it is, and I’m starting to move more TODAY. True to myself, I’ll start by running an hour over lunch, and then bike another hour when I get home. This is what’s referred to as “starting slowly”. Don’t worry, I’ll let you know if I die over lunch. Maybe.
• Ask questions. I’m often confused by people. I have a hard time understanding how some people can think that I’m the dumbest person to ever (slowly) walk the Earth and at the same time ask me constantly for information – roughly 47 times per day. There’s some sort of problem with this, or I may very well be the dumbest person alive. Any idea?

• Mac Daddy: After almost 30 years as a PC, I’m going to the dark side. It started with an iPhone last October, then a iPad in June and now I am getting this soon. That is, as soon as I can make my way in a store without fighting off hundreds of people playing poker right there in the Apple store. What is wrong with those people? Who goes to a computer store to play poker? Anyways, I’m still hesitant about going for the 2.8GHz Intel Core i5 for 300$ more than the 3.2GHz Intel Core i3. Any advice greatly appreciated.

• My bathroom fan is not working. It never was. This needs fixin’. Also, new moldings, new paint, clean windows, cut branches… Damn, this never ends. Condo anyone? Maybe I should just get those dudes with the giant feather fans for my bathroom instead. That might require a bigger bathroom. Can’t win.
• Setting up a new computer is such a drag. But hey, it’s a new computer!

• The missing Tuesday Post: the astute reader might have noticed that the Tuesday post is strangely absent from my post archives. That’s because I’m growing up people! I chose the high road, I’m the bigger man, etc. Heck, If I can let Dave2 call me a pussy, I sure as hell can let some dude I work with try to rip me a new one because I used a big word he didn’t get. Oops. I guess I still have some growing up to do.
• Breakfast Club: The Breakfast Club turned 25 this week. I remember the first time I watched the movie… There’s a famous joke in the LeSombre’s household about Breakfast Club. I goes like this:

Lovely Wife: Did you see Breakfast Club?
LeSombre: Many times.

I know it doesn’t sound that funny, but it really is. I was flipping the channels one morning and went past one where they were showing Breakfast Club. Instantly LW said: “Did you see Breakfast Club?”, but she really meant to say: “Did you see? Breakfast Club!”. Well, I guess you had to be there.

• Pizza! Is there seriously anything better in the world than having an impromptu dinner with friends on Friday night? We ordered some pizza, opened a great bottle of wine and the week-end was off to an awesome start!
• Cupcakes! If that wasn’t enough, LovelyWife made amazing cupcakes – after I wanted some last week. She made “Blue Velvet cupcakes”, a variation on red velvet ones. Yum-O. No pictures, because they were gone faster then Keyser Söze.
• Slide! We went tobogganing on Saturday afternoon with the kids and friends. We had an awesome time and nobody got killed! Unfortunately the rain is messing up all kinds of outdoor plans. Do I sound disappointed enough? Yo can see all the pictures on Flickr.
• Dust and crap! Sunday morning was spent cleaning up the playroom. It’s amazing the amount of dust and crap that can collect under and behind furniture! Silver lining: We can all breathe much easier now. Plus, the kids have a truckload of space to play in!
• More Cupcakes! What is better than having blue velvet cupcakes on Saturday? If you answered having red velvet cupcakes on Sunday you are absolutely right!

• Apparently, today is DELURKER DAY! So go ahead, delurk and let me know you exist in the comments! It’s really easy: make fun of my spelling, my accent, my face… The choice is yours!

• Looking back on some of last years’ projects, I notice that my the Year of the Purge (tYotP) project didn’t really pan out the way I thought it would. It’s not that I didn’t purge stuff, I just stopped being interested in telling the World about the stuff I was purging slash ran out of ways to follow the alphabet while being funny. So what to do? Kill the page, fill the page in one fell swoop of just leave it as is as areminder that not all projects turn out the way they’re intended to?
• When I drive into work, I park in the underground garage for 12$ a day. Now in a corner of the garage, there’s this cylinder pipe sticking out about a foot out of the ground. Is it wrong that whenever I drive by that pipe I think: “Why would someone leave a Bowmore 12 years in that corner?”. Maybe that bullet would work better with pictures. Can you see it in your head?

• In other news, I had a senior moment yesterday. I have this routine when I get home: I go up to the bedroom, take my shirt and pants jeans off and change into a t-shirt and sometimes (if you’re lucky) some older rattier jeans. It’s like my own version of a house coat. Anyways. As I’m stripping down yesterday I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I thought: “That’s not my underwear?!?”.
• I’m thinking of doing something like Karl’s Birthday dares this year, except I would decide on dares and then maybe talk about them online if it turns out that it’s funny or blog worthy. It’s nothing like Karl’s dares. The first thing I want to challenge myself to do is to not bring home my laptop for a full month. Do you think I could do it? Who’s willing to bet I’ll go crazy, and after how many days?

• The 22nd edition of the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival was held from September 4 to 7, 2009. Of course, living in Gatineau, we decided not to go to the tourist/local trap and were rewarded with an awesome surprize! One balloon landed in the park right across the street from hour house!

• This morning I almost got squished by a taxi turning right on a red light while I had the right of way (via the pedestrian light). Who knew frakkin’ taxis were so dangerous? /sarcasm. Yet one more bike story under my belt. Sigh.
• Speaking of funny bike stories, I completely forgot to bring underwear today. I’m committing a serious breach of etiquette and making this a Commando Wednesday.
• Rockband: The Beatles is coming out today! Now I’m a little pissed that this is not also coming out for Guitar Hero. What am I supposed to do, spend another 200$ to get the Rockband drum set? On the Rockband Beatles website, it says “Works with all Rockband and most Guitar Hero controllers and microphones” (emphasis mine). Anyone tried this with the Guitar Hero setup? Anyone? Bueller?
• For the next 179 hours, I’m listening to my iTunes library in alphabetical order. No reason.
• Even if today is 9-9-9, we’re not moving to Blackboard Release 9 anytime soon.
• 9 opens today. Are you excited to see this? I kinda am, but I’m not 100% sure…
