Doppelgängers

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

I spent the evening playing Band Hero with my English doppelgängers, Suze from hereinmyhead.ca and her hubby Mike.

The evening was a great success: Wine was drunk, cheese was eaten and drumsticks were broken.

We rocked hard.

Decisions, decisions…

While all of the United States is blogging about healthcare, let me take a moment to tackle my real issues.

WiiBeatles

This one?

WiiGH5

or that one?

Heck I’ll get them both. Now if you need help about that heath care issue, I’m available. Well, I’ll be in a couple of weeks, once I beat my games…

I’ve been busy lately.

I mean, it’s not just the constant errands to run, the taking care of the house and the shopping, plus the bus trips downtown. It’s the fishing, the shaking of the trees and collecting of pears, the talking to all the animals…

Me and my co-worker K-Girl. Notice my little character with the “Meh.” shirt?

Now if I could only find a way to start a blog in Somburg…

Guest Post for me, will ya?

As some of you might have heard from my constant Tweeting or by dropping by here ever so often, I will be in Africa from January 22nd to February 1st.  Instead of pre-canning a whole lotta posts before I leave and letting you experience stuff that has nothing with curernt events, I’m throwing this out there:

Would you consider guest-posting here?

I have 9 available days, from Jan 23 to Jan 31 included. I’m coming back on Feb 1st, but I already have a post canned for that day. Anyways, just register here (bottom right), and then email me at lesombre at gmail dot com if interested. I’ll bump your profile to author, we can agree on a date and Bob’s your uncle! ;-)

Update: To my amazement, I already have 3 firm yes, and 3 maybes in the wings. I am humbled by your keen responses. Come on, don’t be shy! You know you waaaaaant to! Some of you asked about rules and topics. There are no rules – obviously, try to stay away from porn – and no assigned topics. This is just you, guest posting.

Available dates:

Friday, January 23
Saturay, January 24
Sunday, January 25
Monday, January 26
Tuesday, January 27
Wednesday, January 28
Thursday, January 29
Friday, January 30
Saturay, January 31

I’ll announce the list with name before I leave (unless someone wants to keep it secret until the post, let me know!).

Now that was a first!

You know what Wii did yesterday?

We played Guitar Hero World Tour all day as a family. Our band Lice has almost cleared the easy level. ::w00t::

My kids are addicted to Animal Crossing. They get up in the morning to be the first to the store, because they want to buy a shovel. Of course, when I get up around 10 there’s no more shovel to buy. ;-) LovelyWife doesn’t get it.

We ordered Chinese for dinner. It was weird.  You know what the difference is between Chow Mein and Chop Suey? Ten cents. We ordered both and got twice the same thing, but one dish was ten cents more. Who knew that “lemon shrimps” were shrimps in a fried ball with sweet lemon dipping sauce. Meh. This is why I rarely order Chinese food.

LovelyWife succeeded in keeping the Christmas tree one more day at least… We’ll see what will happen tomorrow.

Did I mention that LovelyWife has her own blog now? I think I did…

Can’t blog…

Playing Guitar Hero World Tour on my Wii.

I Rock!

Taking “the stranger” to a whole new level

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Last Friday I stupidly cut my right thumb at work. Since then, I’m trying as much as possible to NOT use it in my daily activities.

So I’ve been favoring my left hand for most of the week-end.

There’s some stuff that feels really strange when you do it with the left hand instead of the right hand. Here’s the top 10 list of things that felt weird when experienced through my left hand.

10 – Eating broccoli and goat cheese soup. I suspect it would feel the same with any soup.

9- Unzipping / Zipping pants. That’s okay, I spent almost the whole week-end in my underwear anyways.

8- Shaving. I only did it once in the shower, right after…

7- Washing my hair. That was so strange.

6 – Using my Blackberry (clipping to belt, removing from holster, etc.). Oh well, no work this week-end then.

5 – Playing Wii games. That NHL 09 game says “with easy controls”. Well, it might be easy if I you play right-handed, but I play hockey left-handed, and there’s no way to play the game with the Wiimote in the left hand.

4- Using a pair of scissors (to open a milk bag). I’m sure if I had used my left hand for that test I had to do when I was 6, they would’ve put me on the short bus.

3- Unlocking the door. You’d think my brain would not have a lot of trouble making the transition from the right hand to the left for this, but it’s much harder than it looks.

2- Eating an ice cream cone. It was gelato, it was excellent but it still was strange.

And the number one thing that felt weird when experienced through my left hand…

1- Brushing my teeth. I stabbed the inside of my mouth countless times. I absolutely have no coordination to do this.

It’s now Sunday night and I succeeded in avoiding most of the painful stuff all week-end, until my son came to snuggle with me in the living room, and I said “watch my thumb” and, like he’s been brainwashed trained for the last 7 years, he heard “Pull my thumb” and proceeded to pull as hard as he can on it.  Ouch.

I challenge you to spend one day without using your dominant hand. ;-)

WiiFit!

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

I would like to give public thanks to K-Girl and Marc-Man for camping out and getting my family and myself a totally awesome WiiFit game.

Yay!

Of course, now that I got one, I’m a little worried. The documentation says that it’s good for 150kg (330 pounds), and even though I’m under the 300 pounds threshold, I don’t know if I should feel comfortable using the balance board. What if it breaks? If I step on my scale, and lean left and right, the needle jumps up near the 330 pounds mark… Anyone out there around the 300 pound mark using the balance board?¸

Edit: I couldn’t wait and tried the board. It didn’t break, but the little voice did say “Only one person on the board at a time!” Just kidding. Of course, my kids didn’t quite have time to read my BMI analysis, so now they think I’m “obsessed”. It could be worst, right?
