One bullet short of a full gun (28)

This is kind of a rebirth edition. With pictures / graphics. Enjoy.

  • The Dark Phoenix: I’m thinking about this. Again. I already did this and that, so I’m thinking about making it official. Again. Feel free to gimme your thoughts, opinions and assvice.

  • The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning. So I completely missed the release of Gathering Storm, the 12th (and final) book in the Wheel of time series. Well, true to the Robert Jordan experience, the final book has now become a three book saga. So the ending is really a beginning. As it should be, I guess.

  • Galaxies are Colliding: I look good in black.

In a slightly modified Call of Cthulhu tradition, I’ll keep the last two bullets for myself – the madness is here and I’m not going down without a fight.

That is not dead which can eternal lie.
And with strange aeons even death may die.

I haven’t gotten Gathering Storm yet, but it’s on my wish list. I did notice that they’re releasing ebook versions of the whole set, but just one at a time. At the moment, I can’t recall if the other books I have are all hardback, which would tend to make me want to go ahead and complete the set. That is, of course, assuming they survived our Great Book Purge, when we sold most of our books. I would’ve thought I’d have kept those, but I have a feeling that I had some in paperback and so just decided to sell them all.

@Ren: I got to the series late – at the 8th book – that’s a good thing, I didn’t have to wait years between all the books. I’d like to get the e-versions, except reading on the iPhone is not ideal at this point, the Kindle is not that great and the Sony one seems a good compromise. But would I want to settle for a compromise?

@Hello Haha Narf: No worries, I fixed that instead of replying to your comment.

@Suze: I’m sure we can talk. Just so you know, I can’t stand decaf.

Um, I need a web page. Badly. Really. I know what I want, but can’t do it myself.
You need to do MikeySunday! My poor kid will miss Snackie Sundays. (Seriously!)

You can have the super duper high octane stuff. Just because I have to suffer through the decaf doesn’t mean anyone else has to (And also, for the record, Kicking Horse decaf is awesome. I can’t tell the difference.)

I have a Sony Reader (Touch Edition) and while I like the functionality, the screen is sub-par. There are just way too many situations where there is insufficient light to read from the screen but reading from a normal book would be fine. I don’t mind reading on my iPhone in fairly short stints (<20 minutes usually) when I'm on the go, but not when I want to just relax with a book. The Sony Reader is much better for this, but only if the lighting is right.

All of that being said, an iPad is in my future and I expect to be much happier with the reading experience there.

@Sybil Law: We’ll talk about the page. I’ll charge you with negotiating the “Snackie Sunday” rights with Hilly.

@Suze: Blasphemy! Decaf is brown water. Evil! Evil!!!!!!

@Ren: I think you’re right about the iPad. But already having a laptop and a iPhone, I can’t see myself getting an iPad… We’ll see.

@CMG: Well, the Kung Fu is a joke, because whenever I do computer/web stuff, a friend kept telling me that my Kung Fu was strong. ;-)
