@Becky: Well, the good news is that the plane had been upgraded to a proper jet! Woot! As a bonus, the 40 minute flight only took 20.

@Phil: Hi Phil, nice to read you. I’m not that scared of propeller planes, although every time I flew on one we did hit massive turbulence… You know a little writing flourish never hurts. My main beef is really about the infernal noise they make.

This is a bit of a ridiculous (and probably unwarranted) comment, but I couldn’t help it addressing this weird phobia people have with propeller planes: The thrust from the propeller or jet engine isn’t actually the dominant force producing lift, right? That comes from the circulation of air around the wings.

Or put it another way, the difference between a propeller plane and a jet plane is mostly in the speed at which it’ll get you from A to B.

So it’s all good, right?
