I used to carry a red Sharpie with me at all times. I used it to correct various spelling mistakes on signs posted around the workplace, the mall, the restaurant, etc. I stopped doing that, because I really hate being late to meetings, but my OCD tells I can’t leave that mistake alone. I was going crazy.
They do it in English.
They do it in French.
This one still remains my favorite.
Considering I work in a bilingual university, it’s nice to see that we are equally bad at spelling in both official languages.
Sometimes I also do it on the Internet. I used to think that people would be happy to have someone tell them about their typos in a friendly manner – also, you can’t really circle anything in red on the Internet yet – but I am now reconsidering. Is there such a thing as being too helpful?

Haha, that last one is funny.
Please tell me the omission of the word “me” in the penultimate sentence of the first paragraph is intentional and is supposed to be funny…
And I do this sort of thing all the time; I read books with a pencil in my hand to correct the inevitable mistakes in them…
I loved that last one… traduction à la Babble Fish….
If you ever take the ferry from North Sydney to Newfoundland, they have the funniest signs. Marine Atlantic has to post everything in French, but man… they had some interesting ideas…

I am also guilty of it. When I was job hunting, this website had several mistakes, and I wasn’t applying for a job there, but wrote to tell the guy about the mistakes. He ended up offering me a job, which I ended up not taking, but it was pretty funny.

@Alyss: I wish I could say it was intentional.
@Nat: Do you have pictures?
@Sybil Law: That’s cool. As long as it doesn’t get you in too much trouble, right?
@Hilly: It’s an anglophone who made the sign.
