Singular Dad

Whenever LovelyWife leaves for her “business trips”, we always go to the same routine.

She’ll start by asking me if I’ll be all right taking care of the Zadorables by myself.

I always say I will.

She always asks if I would like FMIL to come over while she’s away on her “business trip”.

I always say that I would love FMIL – because FMIL is awesome, and hello: Homemade Cheesecake? Who wouldn’t want that! –  to come over, but that I can perfectly manage the household and the Zadorables while she’s away on her “business trip”.

She’ll then phone FMIL to let her know that I’ll be all by myself from this day to that day, and that I might possibly call her if I forget how to use the stove of lose one of the kid’s legs.

But rest assured that never happened.

Anyways, today LovelyWife is flying out for a week-long “business trip” in North Carolina. That means I’ll be a single dad for the next 7 days.

I like it when this happens, but the Zadorables? They LOVE IT.

They’ve already made plans for the week, and of course they started with this 7 day menu:

Of course, this is not at all what a LovelyWife menu would look like.

Then again, she’s not here for the next seven day, so I’m running the show.

Clearly, mine is better because we never go to a restaurant, right? 100% home cooked meals! ;-)

Pizza FTW!

I’m a great dad.

  4. You guys should see the shit he puts on his pizza – seriously. I don’t think you would be very excited if you were served pizza with figs, pecans, blue cheese and mangos.

    Those Canadians….haven’t they ever heard of pepperoni?

    @Sybil Law: Yay me!

    @THE BROTHER: Fuck yes!

    @Avitable: Pizza rules!

    @SheilaCSR: Oh the implications of you not wanting to try new things are mind-boggling. ;-)

    Mmm this reminds me of the really super awesome frozen pizza I had last night – it was frozen garlic bread pizza and it was the bomb diggity bomb.

    Now I’m hungry, for more garlic bread pizza ;)

    This is much better than my menu when my wife travels, which is basically “Restaurant, Restaurant, Restaurant, …” :-)

    FRIGGEN AWESOME GRID NUMBER 3.

    As my daughter often points out, pizza has all four food groups. I fed her pizza for breakfast today in fact – which is why John showed me your awesome post. The only way that would get boring is if it was the same pizza on every meal.

    I think you should encourage your kids to make NUTELLA PIZZA for breakfast. Preferably with bananas instead of pepperoni. Maybe bacon too. Bacon, chocolate and bananas would be my daughter’s dream breakfast for certain. Hmmm…

    I’m with the Zadorables on this one – That menu looks faboo.

    However, that is probably because my real life menu looks much more like LovelyWife’s version…

    I used to love when Mom had to go out of town when I was a kid because that meant we’d get to go to McDonalds… Ahh, the folly of youth…

    suze recently blogged and what can i say, but that i’m wired this way…

  10. LeSombre says:

    @Sarcastica: Frozen? GASP! Look, drive to my place, I’ll make you awesome fresh pizza. You’ll never crave frozen again. ;-)

    @Ren: I used to do that too. But now my kids have too expensive taste. ;-)

    @Reyl: Pizza is awesome. I think I can make over 100 kinds, including breakfast pizzas. We’ll try the Nutella – Banana thing, it sounds great!

    @Suze: Just thinking about McD makes me a little sick. I use to love that crap. ::sigh::

    So when you come to Chicago, you will be making us pizza at Sheila’s? I’m all about the kid’s menu..but I see many belly aches ahead ;) Good luck!!

    @Becky: Sure thing about the pizza. It’s really easy to make you’ll see. ;-)
