Once again, I’m forever grateful that Avitable can provide me with most excellent blog fodder. I really miss his Sunday lazy memes. Poo. OTOH, Maybe this will give me enough time to hijack SheilaCSR’s blog while she’s away. I heard she loves pink poodles and roses. Mmmmmmm.
My bucket list – 10 things that I want to do before I die, in no discernible order:
- Visit Scotland for 3 weeks.
- Travel to all the seven continents. Not at the same time.
- Have a great steak on all the continents. I’m 3/6 – North America (DelMonico in Vegas), Africa (La Galette in Dakar), Europe (La Ferme in La Chaux-de-Fonds). For the purpose of this, South America is a continent and Antarctica doesn’t count.
- Fly First Class anywhere and back.
- Buy a motorcycle and road trip to the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. This year is the 69th edition. Hur hur.
- Go to the SuperBowl and/or the Stanley Cup Final.
- Crash a wedding.
- Get a tattoo. I already made the design I want. Left sleeve.
- Spend Christmas on a beach.
- Make a hole-in-one.
My fuck it list – 10 things that I DON’T need or want to do before I die, in no discernible order. Idea taken from Avitable, who took it from there:
- Go camping (I lied about the discernible order, this one is really number one on my fuck it list)
- Move more than once. As in “move from our house”, not as in “like Jabba the Hutt“.
- Finish my Masters. Fuck that.
- Take a one-year sabbatical to do some humanitarian work in any third world country.
- A mari usque ad mare – Drive across Canada from coast to coast.
- Sit on a Jury.
- Climb to Everest base camp.
- Bungee Jump / Skydive.
- Give money to charity.
- Eat a Big Mac.
What would be on your bucket list and fuck it list?
P.S. In writing this post, I did a little research for some of the more popular “things to do before you die” lists. This one item from http://www.bspcn.com/2008/07/09/50-things-to-do-before-you-die/, item 47, really cracked me up.
And yes, I’ve Skyped. But not in a wingsuit.

Maybe not your cup of tea, but you could give a Big Mac to a homeless person and knock out not one but TWO of the things you don’t ever want to do. In fact, do it while camping out in front of the courthouse during Jury Duty, and when you’re done, write a thesis on the socio-economic effects of public service while effecting real change with your charitable goodness.
Dude, I’ve moved a total of 5 times in as many years….and no, it is soooo not fun! Getting a tattoo is on my list of things to do as well.
